Set between the Mediterranean Sea and the forested landscape of Kemer, Türkiye, Maxx Royal Kemer Resort by Baraka Architects is defined by its strong connection to the surrounding nature. Lunawood Thermowood plays a prominent role in the architecture, used extensively in the facade, exterior cladding and architectural battens that also provide solar shading.

Lunawood ThermoWood® battens bring depth and rhythm to the facade

The extensive use of Lunawood ThermoWood® battens gives the resort its distinctive architectural character. Arranged across the building volumes, the wooden elements create rhythm and depth while casting changing patterns of light and shadow throughout the day. The battens also function as solar shades, filtering the intense Mediterranean sunlight while maintaining openness and views towards the landscape.

The warm, natural appearance of Lunawood softens the scale of the resort and creates a harmonious transition between the architecture and its green surroundings. Used both as exterior cladding and as a three-dimensional facade element, Lunawood demonstrates how wood can become an integral part of contemporary resort architecture – combining visual expression with functional solar shading.
