Luna Dual profile with both in horizontal and vertical installation

Lunawood ThermoWood® Brings Rhythm and Warmth to a Modern Wooden Family House

Villa Jonsson is a modern wooden family house composed of three interconnected volumes that form an L-shaped floor plan. This layout creates a sheltered courtyard while allowing natural light to flow freely through the interior spaces. With a total area of 275 m², the house strikes a balance between openness and privacy, offering spacious yet intimate living areas.

The wooden facade is entirely clad with Lunawood ThermoWood®, showcasing the material’s natural beauty and architectural versatility. The main cladding profile used is Luna Dual, applied both horizontally and vertically to create depth and variation. The profile’s clean lines and deep grooves add rhythm and texture to the exterior expression.

Lunawood ThermoWood® continues throughout the exterior elements of the house. The terraces are built with Luna SHP 5/4×5, while the sturdy posts are made from Luna Post 140×140. Additional Lunawood battens, such as 40×185 and 2×4, have been used to bring refined detailing and structure across the wooden facade and surrounding architecture.

This wooden family home is a carefully considered example of contemporary timber design, where natural materials and architectural form work in harmony — a reflection of Lunawood’s core values.

Lunawood Thermowood decking with silver-grey patina

Lunawood ThermoWood® was chosen for its natural aesthetics, dimensional stability and ability to withstand Nordic climate conditions without chemical treatment. Over time, the wood will develop a beautiful silver-grey patina, further connecting the building to its landscape.

Villa Jonsson is a remarkably well-executed home in its entirety. The material palette is thoughtfully curated, with long-lasting and high-quality choices both inside and out. It is a great example of modern wooden architecture where design, sustainability and material honesty come together.
