Výminek Prefab House
Výminek reinterprets a traditional Czech housing typology as a compact, contemporary timber home. Designed by David Bureš of Eko modular in collaboration with CL3, the two-module demonstration house combines prefabricated construction with carefully planned spaces for modern multigenerational living.
Historically, a výminek was a secondary dwelling built for older family members after the main household had been passed on to the next generation. Located at Eko modular’s production campus in Tvrdonice, the 80-square-metre house translates this idea into a modern, adaptable home. Its proximity to the production halls also gives visitors insight into the prefabrication process and the layered timber structure normally concealed in a completed building.
The simple volume minimizes circulation and organizes the interior around an open kitchen and living area, with the bedroom and study positioned on the quieter side of the house. An oak-framed portal and a lightweight steel-and-timber bookshelf define subtle transitions without closing off views, while bespoke cabinetry integrates storage and technical equipment into the architecture. Carefully positioned windows bring daylight throughout the interior, and large sliding glazing extends the living space onto the terrace and into the garden.
Low-maintenance wood facade with Luna Arctic Triple
The exterior is defined by Luna Arctic Triple 32×140 Brushed, a three-dimensional Lunawood ThermoWood® cladding panel made from Nordic spruce. Two deep grooves give the facade a precise, batten-like rhythm, while the brushed silver-grey surface creates an even, finished appearance from the moment of installation. Designed to weather naturally without regular surface treatment, the cladding provides a low-maintenance exterior whose coating gradually responds to exposure over time. Its textured surface brings depth to the compact volume and connects the house naturally with the surrounding landscape. Lunawood ThermoWood® is also used for the decking, creating a coherent material transition between the house, terrace and garden.
