Sustainability Benefits

PEFC -certified raw material

PEFC -certified raw material

Lunawood’s raw material comes from well-managed, sustainable Nordic forests. The average transportation distance is only 240 km, which increases the transparency of our supply chain. In Finland, we only cut 75% of the annual growth and whenever one tree is cut, four new ones are seeded. Thus the growth of trees in the Finnish forests exceeds the annual felling. The entire log is efficiently utilized in the Finnish sawmill industry.

Prolonged life cycle with out chemicals

Prolonged life cycle with out chemicals

The chemical-free thermal modification process not only provides Lunawood with excellent durability but also enables it to act as a significant storage for CO₂, storing five times the amount of CO₂ it emits, according to the Lunawood Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). Furthermore, Lunawood’s enhanced technical properties ensures a durable and long-lasting appearance on decorative surfaces.

Wood at its purest form

Wood at its purest form

Lunawood Thermowood® is a natural material produced entirely from heat and steam – without any toxins or chemicals. Due to its patented thermal modification, Lunawood Thermowood products are pure, safe, and hygienic for indoor use, even for allergy sufferers who are prone to wood-related reactions. Thanks to the resin-free property, the knots don’t show up through paints or tints, even over time.

Low-maintenance solution

Low-maintenance solution

Lunawood ThermoWood® is sustainable throughout its entire life cycle. The thermal modification process ensures that the wood does not necessarily require a separate surface treatment or coating to withstand time. This characteristic not only enhances its sustainability but also makes it a cost-effective choice. However, it is important to note that these benefits are contingent upon the correct installation of the product, in accordance with the official installation instructions
