Set on the edge of a small village near Prague, this Waterfront Villa is a family home designed to belong quietly to its surroundings. Envisioned by 3AE Architects, the house is a thoughtful response to a changing landscape that turns toward the forest. At the time of design, the site was surrounded by wildflower meadows and open views. Yet the architect chose to orient the home inward, embracing a private garden and forest instead.

The house is built of massive Novatop Solid panels, has a Lunawood facade and a green hipped roof. Thanks to photovoltaics, a heat pump, rainwater accumulation and the use of recycled materials, it offers sustainable operation with a minimal ecological footprint.

Natural Harmony with Lunawood ThermoWood® Cladding

The façade of the home is clad entirely in Luna SSS 20×92 , chosen for its ability to express natural warmth while ensuring exceptional dimensional stability and durability combined to contemporary look. The thermally treated wood provides the building with long-lasting protection against weather, while its natural texture allow the architecture to blend effortlessly into its forest setting. Furtherore, thanks to dimensional stability of the Lunawood the miter corners add the finishing touch to the minimalist design.

Over time, Lunawood’s surface matures gracefully, developing a silvery patina that deepens its connection to the landscape. This natural aging process reflects the home’s quiet philosophy — to exist in harmony with its environment and evolve with the passing seasons. In the pictures, you are able to see how the aging process is already in effect and makes the building blend to its surroundings.

Waterfront Villa stands as an example of how contemporary architecture and natural materials can coexist in harmony. Through the use of Lunawood ThermoWood®, the home achieves a timeless balance, one that lets the landscape, life, and light truly shine in sustainable way.
