A Shared Vision for Sustainable Wood Construction – NOVATOP & Lunawood
Demand for low-maintenance wood solutions continues to grow across residential, commercial, and public construction projects. For NOVATOP, this created an opportunity: how to combine the structural benefits of engineered timber panels with a natural wood surface that requires no regular coating maintenance.
The answer became a joint development project with Lunawood. After more than two years of testing and product development, the companies introduced Lunawood by NOVATOP – a three-layer panel solution manufactured entirely from ThermoWood® spruce.
NOVATOP is known for its high-quality CLT-based building systems that enable healthy, energy-efficient, and low-carbon construction. Lunawood complements these solutions with dimensionally stable, chemical-free ThermoWood® products made from Nordic pine and spruce. Together, they deliver architectural surfaces that combine natural aesthetics, durability, and low maintenance.
Sustainability is at the core of both companies. NOVATOP promotes low-carbon timber construction and responsible manufacturing, while Lunawood ThermoWood® is produced using only heat and steam, without chemicals. Together, they contribute to healthier and more sustainable built environments.
Lunawood by NOVATOP – A 100% ThermoWood® Panel Solution
The partnership has resulted in Lunawood by NOVATOP, a premium three-layer panel system made entirely from Lunawood ThermoWood® spruce. Combining Czech craftsmanship with Finnish ThermoWood® technology, the panels offer exceptional dimensional stability, durability, and a refined natural appearance for both interior and exterior applications.
Suitable for façades, balconies, pergolas, wall and ceiling surfaces, and wellness environments, the panels combine the precision of engineered timber construction with the natural beauty and low-maintenance benefits of ThermoWood®.

Low Maintenance as a Design Principle
AGROP NOVA a.s. manufactures its products under the NOVATOP brand. Established in 2001, the company builds on the production expertise of Agrop s.r.o., founded in 1992. Today, NOVATOP is one of Europe’s largest and most modern manufacturers of large-format multilayer wood panels.
The experience and technical expertise of the Oslizlo family are at the heart of NOVATOP. According to CTO Radek Oslizlo, the cooperation with Lunawood began when NOVATOP sought a façade solution that would combine durability with minimal maintenance.
“Although our coated Nordic spruce façade system offered high quality and long-term durability, part of the market still preferred materials that do not require regular surface treatment,” Oslizlo explains.
At the same time, NOVATOP recognized the strong reputation of ThermoWood® in its markets. Working closely with Lunawood, the companies explored how to combine NOVATOP’s cross-laminated panel technology with the benefits of ThermoWood®.
