Whether installed horizontally or vertically, Lunawood ThermoWood® cladding gives architects complete freedom of design — supported by installation techniques that ensure both durability and beauty.

Proper ventilation and substructure design are key to successful cladding installation.
For horizontal cladding:
Install vertical battens with a maximum spacing of 600 mm. Begin from the bottom and ensure each board is level. Horizontal installation emphasizes the building’s width and provides a calm, traditional expression.
For vertical cladding:
Use a double batten system — the first layer vertically, the second horizontally — to maintain proper airflow and allow water drainage. Vertical installation highlights height and creates a contemporary architectural look.
Thanks to the dimensional stability of Lunawood ThermoWood®, no expansion gaps are needed between boards or in joints, simplifying the process and ensuring a uniform surface.
Maintain at least 300 mm ground clearance, and keep ventilation openings at both the top and bottom of the façade for optimal durability and performance.
Both horizontal and vertical installations bring out the natural beauty of ThermoWood® while providing a sustainable and low-maintenance solution for decades of use.
