Best from Dust – Lunawood Seeks Circular Solutions for ThermoWood® Dust

Lunawood is launching an innovation challenge for Thermowood planing dust in collaboration with the BioBoosters business accelerator.

The aim of the challenge is to find collaboration opportunities and solutions where the Thermowood dust generated during planing is used as a raw material instead of for energy production. The solution should be sustainable, logistically efficient, and commercially viable, and aligned with Lunawood’s sustainability program.

“We want to promote the recycling of wood-based side streams and advance circularity. We look forward to seeing the results of this innovation challenge,” says Pauliina Tynkkynen, Sustainability Manager at Lunawood. “Previously, Thermowood planing dust has been used, for example, in the seating of the renovated Helsinki Olympic Stadium, but its potential surely goes far beyond that,” Tynkkynen adds.

The mission of BioBoosters is to promote business focused on the bio-based circular economy and agrotechnology, create sustainable innovations, leverage digitalization, develop expertise, and strengthen business networks.

Take part in the innovation challenge.

The Lunawood Innovation Challenge is primarily targeted at companies, but it is open to all who are interested in the topic and have an idea that meets the evaluation criteria. Teams can consist of representatives from one organization or be cross-organizational, assembled specifically for this challenge.
