Luna Aalto and Luna Triple Honoured with Plus X Awards for Design and Sustainability Excellence
Two of Lunawood’s distinctive ThermoWood® cladding products – Luna Aalto and Luna Triple – have received prestigious international recognition at the 2025 Plus X Awards in Germany. Both products were awarded in four categories: High Quality, Design, Ease of Use, and Functionality.
These recognitions underscore Lunawood’s ongoing mission: to offer wood solutions that respect nature, inspire architecture, and endure through time. In Luna Aalto and Luna Triple, the Nordic landscape meets modern architectural vision—transformed into sustainable surfaces that speak through texture, shadow, and simplicity.
Celebrating Nordic Design with Natural Rhythm and Durability
Luna Aalto received high praise from the jury for its expressive, wave-like surface, which creates dynamic shadow play and visual rhythm on façades. As the jury noted, “It’s a product that brings architecture to life while delivering on durability, ease of use, and sustainable performance – an outstanding cladding system in every respect.” Crafted from sustainably sourced Nordic pine and thermally modified in Finland using Lunawood’s patented, chemical-free process, Luna Aalto reflects the Nordic design ethos of harmony between form, material, and function.
Luna Triple with its precise triple groove profile, was equally commended for balancing bold aesthetics with technical performance. The profile offers a clear, architectural language while supporting healthy building envelopes through natural ventilation. “A smart choice for architects and builders aiming for sustainable, expressive façades,” concluded the Plus X jury. Luna Triple has been awarded also as the winner of Sustainable product -category in ArchitectureMasterPrize and in raumPROBE’s materialPREIS.
Designed for Longevity, Engineered for Ease
Both cladding systems represent Lunawood’s drive to combine design clarity with practical functionality. Their intuitive installation systems, dimensional stability, and resistance to weathering reflect not just technical precision, but also a deep understanding of the architect’s process—from concept to construction. By offering long-lasting materials that require no surface treatments, Lunawood enables buildings to age beautifully and naturally, aligning with the values of low environmental impact and timeless Nordic elegance.
