Lunawood has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 44%

Lunawood has successfully reached its science-based climate target ahead of time, achieving a 44% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 2021 baseline.

This milestone underscores the company’s long-term commitment to climate action and responsible manufacturing. Lunawood reaches the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated goal to reduce own operations related emissions (scope 1 and 2) by 42% by 2030. Lunawood continues to work towards its next climate goal, to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.  Key actions defined in Lunawood low carbon roadmap include increasing the use of renewable energy and continuous improvements in energy efficiency.

“Reaching our first climate goal ahead of time shows that our climate actions are delivering real, measurable results,” says Pauliina Tynkkynen, Business Development and Sustainability Manager at Lunawood. ”By reducing our production emissions, we are lowering the carbon footprint of every Lunawood product. This means our customers can make more climate-conscious material choices without compromising on performance or durability.” Tynkkynen continues.  Lunawood wants to support sustainable architecture through production and offering durable, low-carbon alternatives.

Reducing emissions is one of the key sustainability goals for Lunawood. Over the past years Lunawood has made investments in energy efficiency and increased the share of renewable energy. 2025 marks the first year for Lunawood using 100% renewable electricity. Work continues firmly on track with Lunawood low carbon roadmap towards the climate goals with focus on energy efficiency actions on production sites during 2026.
