Located in the Encarnação district of Lisbon, Casa do Poço is a sensitive renovation of a 1940s urban residence. The project is a thoughtful interplay between preservation and renewal, where the historic essence of the building is respected while modern architecture and natural materials bring new life to the home. The result is a serene, intimate space that connects history with contemporary living, anchored by the sensory and aesthetic qualities of Lunawood ThermoWood® Battens.

The renovation project focused on preserving the main façade and giving the rear area a contemporary makeover, restoring the comfort, light and functionality that the house had lost over time. The patio, previously uncharacteristic, now serves as a secluded garden, framed by a retaining wall that provides structure and privacy.

Lunawood ThermoWood® plays a central role in the material palette of the new extension. The rear façade is clad with Luna SHP 19×140, chosen for its deep natural tone and subtle texture that lends both softness and sophistication to the architecture. Due to its lightweight and dimensional stability, Lunawood ThermoWood® is particularly well-suited for applications requiring ease of handling and structural adaptability, such as movable or modular constructions.
Lunawood Battens not only harmonises with the calm aesthetic of the house but also reinforces the project’s commitment to sustainability and longevity. Its warm, tactile surface brings a sense of comfort and authenticity, while aging beautifully over time in the Mediterranean climate.
