Quality & Environment
Lunawood Oy has and will continue to set quality requirements for Thermowood in order to take responsibility for the care of the environment. To ensure this, our quality chain goes all the way from the source of the raw materials to the end consumer. Lunawood Thermowood is a sustainable wood with high performance of tropical hardwoods. No chemicals are used in the manufacturing process of our products, which provides a good basis for the ecological soundness. Applied correctly, heat and steam are sufficient to turn wood into a durable and impressive construction material. At the end of its life span Thermowood, being a pure natural product, can be burned and turned into bio energy or recycled.
Our Nordic wood products are labeled with the Scandinavian eco label, the Nordic Swan. Lunawood is an ecological wood for durable outdoor and environmental construction. It is free of heavy metals and pesticides and will not become hazardous waste at the end of its life span.
The quality chain starts in the forest. The chain-of-custody management of the raw material is certified, which means that it is assessed and monitored by an independent third party. As recognition of the company’s exemplary chain-of-custody management, Inspecta Oy has awarded Oy Lunawood Ltd a chain-of-custody certificate. Based on this certificate, the Finnish Forest Certification Council has awarded Oy Lunawood Ltd the right to use the PEFC certification label.
The International Thermowood Association supervises its member companies’ quality of production. This supervision is conducted by Finotrol Oy as an independent third party. Finotrol Oy awards a certificate to companies that meet the quality requirements, on which basis the International Thermowood Association awards companies the right to use the TMT certification label.
Durability is a part of quality. The international KOMO certificate, awarded and monitored by SKH in the Netherlands, is further proof of our expertise. The KOMO certificate confirms that Lunawood Thermo-D –class materials meet the quality requirements set for their biological durability and production.
All of our products are made in Finland. As a guarantee of their domestic origin, they have been granted the right to use the Finnish Key Flag emblem.
Lunawood exterior cladding products are also CE-marked, which guarantees their performance.
Oy Lunawood Ltd’s quality manual partly follows the ISO 9001 standard and is included in our quality control system. The company’s internal quality control aims at monitoring and developing the quality of the products and the production. We also want to set our quality requirements at such a high level that we can be proud of what we do.
