The Lahti Region Scout Association receives Sustainable Development Scholarship
The Lahti Region Scout Association is one of the recipients of the 10-year anniversary Together Scholarship of Accent Equity. The Association was awarded 10,000 SEK (n. 1000 €) yesterday in Lahti. Lunawood nominated the scouts as we see great similarity in the values and actions of both of us: achieving results together and sustainability.
Accent Equity, the main owner of Oy Lunawood Ltd, launched 2011 annual Scholarship to award persons or non-profit organizations that have made achievements that bring people together. This Scholarship is awarded to persons or non-profit organisations that are working for a better social environment. Portfolio companies owned by Accent Equity funds nominate the candidates for the Scholarship. Lunawood nominated the Lahti Region Scout Association.
The Lahti Scout Association reaches more than 850 scouts of all ages for whom sustainable development activities are organized. The forest is an important environment for scouts and guides to operate in accordance with the goals and principles of sustainable development. “When appointing the Lahti Region Scout Association, we wanted to emphasize that we share the same values by loving the forest and keeping sustainability at the heart of our operations. A strong culture of working together and achieving results together is also an important value for both of us”, explains Johanna Kilpi-Koski, Lunawood’s Sustainability Manager.
High-quality scouting prevents children and young people from being excluded and enables many low-income people to take part in scouting, which is critical during these challenging times of the pandemic. “We hope that the Lahti Region Scouts Association will be able to provide quality outdoor activities for all ages in a future as well. We believe that such awards encourages scouts and guides to organize meaningful and memorable program for all”, continues Kilpi-Koski.
