Together-scholarship for Lahti-based Monon Side Association

Accent Equity, the main owner of Oy Lunawood Ltd, annually distributes Together-scholarships to non-profit actors and initiatives that promote cooperation and positive change in local communities. One of the candidates awarded a scholarship this time was Monon Side Association from Lahti, suggested by Lunawood, which conducts preventive substance abuse and mental health work with young people under the age of 18.

Monon’s activities involve encounter and assistance work during young people’s leisure time, carried out by trained volunteers of the association. The goal of the volunteers is to be reliable and safe adults whom the youths can rely on in temporary crisis situations.

“Monon’s core activity is street patrol, where volunteer patrollers move around in youths’ leisure spots and various events. The scholarship will be used in full for Monon Side Association’s street patrol activities,” says Mimmi Koskela, the activity director of Monon Side Association.
