Ohayo Mountain House, designed by Amin Tadj Studio, is a single-story residence set within 2.15 acres of wooded landscape in Glenford, New York.

Conceived as a balance between privacy, individuality, and community, the home is carefully positioned to strengthen its connection to nature while maintaining a compact footprint.

The floor plan wraps around three sides of an inner courtyard, creating a sheltered outdoor space while allowing for multi-directional views and direct access to the surrounding environment. Large openings bring natural light deep into the interior and establish a continuous dialogue between inside and outside.

A defining feature of the project is its undulating roof, whose expressive geometry reflects the mountainous context of the region. The continuous form is both a technical and architectural achievement, echoing the surrounding landscape.

Using the Lunawood ThermoWood® Luna Panel System, the façade introduces a natural and warm expression to the building. Left untreated, the wood will develop a silver-grey patina over time, allowing the house to blend even more seamlessly into its forested surroundings. Lunawood was selected for its durability, low maintenance, and chemical-free production—supporting the project’s sustainability goals.

Designed as a model of eco-friendly living, the house incorporates high-performance solutions such as triple-glazed windows, energy-efficient systems, and an EV charger, contributing to energy performance close to Passive House standards.

Ohayo Mountain House also serves as a platform for cultural dialogue. In collaboration with Available Items, the residence hosted Sense of Place, an exhibition showcasing contemporary art and design from over 20 regional artists and studios. The works were presented throughout the house and surrounding landscape, creating an immersive experience that highlights the relationship between architecture, materiality, and the natural environment.

The result is a contemporary home that extends beyond living—bringing together architecture, art, and landscape into a unified and evolving experience.
