Desert X Visitor Centre
Crafted by KWY Studio, this unique structure serves as a welcoming beacon at the entrance of the Hidden Canyon, inviting visitors to explore the first Desert X Al Ula exhibition. Desert X is an international art event usually held in the California Desert & Alula area. Drawing inspiration from the region’s traditional walled date plantations and the rock-cut tombs of Hegra, the Visitor Centre offers essential amenities and a shaded courtyard adorned with exquisite Lunawood Thermowood decking, providing a tranquil escape in the heart of the desert. Its strategically placed windows offer mesmerizing vistas, seamlessly connecting the interior with the exterior. Constructed using mostly locally sourced materials, the Visitor Centre pays homage to the region’s architectural legacy while incorporating modern design principles.
